Material Museum

  • The Material Lab is a resource for students to physically understand and comprehend materials and products
  • It has been curated as per the academic curriculum
  • It houses physical material samples of- fabrics, carpets, paints, surfacing, counter tops, ceiling tiles, wall boards, glass, acoustic boards, hardware, etc. that students and faculty can access for classroom projects, presentations, and beyond.
  • It encourages creativity, exploration and discovery by exhibiting building construction models along side the materials of the concerned topics.
  • SAMPLES IN MATERIAL MUSEUM – Glass, wood, plywood, block board, PVC/CPVC-Door & Windows, flooring, paints, glass blocks, PVC flooring, Plumbing, Electrical, Acoustics, External & Internal Flooring, Catalogue/brochure-Paint, carpets, PVC floorings, laminates Veneers, Flooring-wooden, electrical switches. Relevant materials are periodically displayed to students sourced from material vendors and factory personnel/visits.

Studios

Studios are equip with state of art projection facitlity, drawing & model making facility along with adequate storage area for students, studios also have extensive display facility.

  1. The department has five large studios cum two lecture halls which are well-lit and ventilated with individual lockers facility for every student.
  2. The department has well-established computer laboratory with 40 systems with colour monitors, linked with broadband internet access facility and every teacher is provided with Desktops. The architectural software for drawing work and for 3D visualizations etc., are also available for students use.
  3. The department is equipped with Climatology laboratory with light level measuring instruments, sound level measuring instruments and various types of temperature and humidity measuring instruments and wind-speed measuring instruments and rain-gauges, etc.
  4. The department is also equipped with Photographic equipments, like Video camera, SLR camera, etc.
  5. Every studio is equipped with Over-head projectors and audio-visual LCD projectors. In addition the department has 3 laptops.
  6. The department is also provided with its own reference/reading library with about 500 volumes of important books and professional magazines and student’s thesis projects. In addition, the college itself is having a main library with more than 2000 architectural books for lending purposes to the students.
  7. The department has the art and model-making workshop, Building materials museum and an Experimental Construction yard facility etc.
  8. The sister departments, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering provide supporting services in their respective fields of expertise related to Building services, construction management, surveying and levelling and building quantity estimation.
  9. In order to provide a good environment for Student-Teacher interactions, the staff members of the department are encouraged and sent to several quality improvement programmes to improve their quality of teaching, every year.
